STAR WARS READS DAY STRIKES BACK
Star Wars Reads Day III lands tomorrow all over the place and if the last 2 years are any indication it is going to be epic. There are tons of events scheduled and lots of Star Wars themed fun to be had. Check with your local library or bookstore to see if they are hosting and event. It is pretty fun to see a Jedi perusing the stacks at your local library or a storm trooper picking up some books at your local bookstore. If for some reason you can’t find an event right down the street here are some places you can go:
- – Every Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million store nationwide is holding an event on October 11
- – The Star Wars Reads Day Facebook Page will be listing events be sure to check it out.
- – Roqoo Depot has made a list of events that will feature authors and/or Vader’s 501st .
If none of those work for you, you can always download the activity pack and make your own Star Wars Read Day event with family and friends (you can download them if you do go to an event too, I won’t tell anyone…):
The boys and I broke our kits open last night to give you a taste of what is in store. This packet alone is a weekend of activities… We spent a little over an hour last night and only got through two activities! Our picks were the “Make Your Own Pop-Up Clone Trooper” inspired by Scholastic’s Star Wars: A Galactic Pop-Up Adventure and a hidden picture activity excerpted from Workman’s Star Wars Workbooks. After you print the kits off all you need is pencils, crayons, scissors and glue. It is a fun way to get exposed to many of the Star Wars books available for kids. Among the activities are crosswords, drawing tutorials, finger puppets and Oragami. You can even act out a scene from William Shakespeare’s “The Empire Striketh Back”!
Here’s how our projects turned out:
Have a great Star Wars Reads Day and May the Force Be With You!
