Taking Dodgeball to the Next Level at the SkyZone

Sky Zone DadventureOne of the things I like about my Dadventures is to experience new things with my boys.  Sometimes we exercise our minds on these adventures other times we exercise our bodies, and it was definitely a physical workout that we got on our recent trip to the Sky Zone.  This place is an indoor playground with wall-to-wall trampolines… and it is a lot of fun!

Now I’ll be honest I hadn’t heard of this place until the guys at the Sky Zone in Elmhurst contacted me and asked me if I would be interested in bringing my kids in to try it out.  My kids were about to leave for a two-week trip with my wife so I figured why not get one more Dadventure in before the leave.

After we got our special Sky Zone socks and a brief but thorough safety briefing we were off and jumping.  The first thing we did was hit the main court for some free jump fun.  Basically we were in an area that felt like we were on a football field sized trampoline arena.  IMG_4741Before I knew it my kids looked like they belonged in “The Matrix” with some of the tricks they were doing.  We probably could have spent our whole time there, however there were more attractions and we wanted to try them all!

Next up was the Foam Zone and Sky Slam. My boys were split on these, one was all about mastering the trampoline assisted slam dunk while the other loved jumping into giant pit filled with foam cubes.  My boys playing trampoline dodge ballIt was a good thing the Sky Zone staff recommended we empty our pockets before we attempted it too because honestly searching through 10,000 foam cubes for a lost set of keys probably would have spoiled some of the fun we were having, thank goodness they have coin operated lockers to store your shoes and valuables so that everyone (parents too) can join in the fun.

The ultimate dodgeball arena.By far, the boys favorite attraction was the Ultimate Dodgeball.  Sky Zone has four or five different trampoline dodgeball arenas ready for kids (and parents) to have some epic dodgeball battles.  Each open arena  has a Sky Zone Referee and two teams battle it out in a trampoline enhanced dodgeball competition.  It is just like you remember from your elementary school gym class… except you do it on trampolines… and that is awesome…

Worth noting are some of the other activities that they have there:

  • Jumpapalooza – a two-hour all activity pass on Friday nights.
  • Sky Fit classes – low-impact, healthy fun that combines calisthenics, core exercises and strength-building aerobics.
  • Toddler Time – a special time just for the little ones, where they can explore exciting new ways to be active, all while staying safe.
  • Homeschool Jump – afternoon jump times especially for homeschooled jumpers.

Obviously the kids and I enjoyed ourselves a lot and we appreciate that the folks at the Sky Zone in Elmhurst offered us a chance to check it out so I could tell you about it.  To make it even better they are letting me give away a four pass to one of my readers. To enter you need to comment on this post.   you can also enter by  liking Sky Zone Elmhurst’s Facebook page, follow Sky Zone Elmhust on Twitter or Tweeting a message about who you would take if they won the giveaway.  Just use the form below to enter and good luck!
